MentPay transit purse

The Mentpay transit purse provides an alternative to cash for those who either do not have, or wish to use, a mobile phone or bank card. It therefore enables for example parents to provide a cashless payment method for children to pay for their travel.
Note that MentPay is the replacement facility previously provided by sQuid. If you have added or topped up your cash balance through sQuid this is still available to you on your card. To make further top-ups, please visit www.mentpay.co.uk
The Mentpay transit purse facility can be used to pay for travel on the following operators’ services:
- Arriva (Kent Thameside)
- Arriva (the Shires)
- Carousel Buses
- Central Connect
- Centrebus
- Red Eagle Buses
- Red Rose Travel
- Redline Buses
- Richmond’s Coaches
- Stagecoach
- Sullivan Buses
- Uno
To open a MentPay account, you need to either have a Hertfordshire SaverCard*, or if you are not eligible for a Hertfordshire SaverCard, for example you are not resident in Hertfordshire or you wish to provide a cashless payment option for a child under the age of 11, you can apply for an Intalink Card.
When you apply for a new Intalink Card, you will be able to add a MentPay balance at the same time. This will be preloaded on your card and be ready for use when you receive it. The Intalink Card will normally be delivered within seven days of the order date, but this may be longer during busy periods.
You will need to setup a MentPay account and register your card using the MentPay16 digit number printed on the back of the card, together with the 3 digit security code. You can do this at www.mentpay.co.uk . This will allow you to access, manage and top up your online MentPay account.
Funds added to you MentPay account can be collected on any participating bus operator’s service within Hertfordshire and the surrounding area, by presenting your card to the card reader on the ticket machine. You need to top up before 9pm for it to be available from 6am the following day.
There is a maximum balance of £50 that can be held on the card at any one time.
You can use the MentPay balance to pay for travel on any bus service operated by a participating operator.
* Only Hertfordshire SaverCards issued since October 2023. There will be a MentPay logo (or sQuid logo on earlier cards) on the back of the SaverCard to indicate that it already has a MentPay transit purse.
